html5 - iphone/ipad and Brightcove oneplanet app

We have implemented html5 into several of the players in our site. Works great. Kudos to the team for making it a simple process.

I dowloaded the Brightcove OnePlanet App, but also noticed that you guys have what looks like an ipad app in some of the marketing images for html5. Is this app also going to be made available as an example or is it just a graphical representation?

If it is going to be made available, any estimate on when?

Hi -

We are planning on releasing the iPhone SDK 3.2 in the upcoming week.  We are excited to release The One Planet iPad app which will likely be released this summer.

Thanks!

Re: html5 - iphone/ipad and Brightcove oneplanet app

Hello,

Glad to hear you are up and running via Brightcove+html5 with ease!

If you are interested in building a native app for the iPad then I would recommend looking at our iPhone SDK documentation. Start here: http://developer.brightcove.com/en/articles/getting-started-brightcove-iphone-software-development-k...

We will be releasing an update to our iPhone SDK in the coming days so that it supports the version of the iPhone OS that ships on the iPad (v3.2). We are dedicated to providing tools that enable our customers to deliver media to a broad range of devices, and as such, you can expect to see more mobile delivery features from us in the near future.

Give the iPhone SDK a whirl and give us your feedback.

Re: html5 - iphone/ipad and Brightcove oneplanet app

For anyone who has used the MobileCompatibilty.js and BCHTML5.js example libraries to easily generate HTML5 video experiences, I'd recommend learning about our new SmartPlayers that were recently released with Brightcove 4.2.

Now you don't need any external libraries, we're starting to do dynamic device detection natively within the JavaScript publishing code. From that we determine if we should render a Flash or HTML5 experience. In both scenarios we're dynamically interpreting the BEML associated with the player template. It's pretty awesome! Your player settings and styling cues translate between the two runtimes.

We're starting with single video players right now, but we'll have an update in the late summer or early fall that provides full support for all the playlist templates as well.

Learn more in the Support Center - http://support.brightcove.com/en/docs/delivering-v ideo-html5-and-smart-players

Thank you!
