The Smart Player API is now out of limited availability and is generally available to all Brightcove Video Cloud publishers. Along the way, we've expanded the available functionality in the API. We also changed the name: the former provisional name was the Universal Player API. We're now calling it the Smart Player API, and the previous Player API is now called the Flash-only Player API. We hope these new names will help reduce the confusion between the newer and older player APIs.
Along with general availability, we've published a set of new user documentation for the Smart Player API, which you can find in the Video Cloud Developer Center. There's also a JSDoc reference for the Smart Player API.
